He has added parsecd.exe to steam and created a gamepad-style config for that executable and launches via steam, as instructed in the setup. The game was back to recognizing both of our controllers as player 1. I tried restarting the game and parsec at this point, my local controller was still displaying the led indicator for player 3. After this point, my controller doesn't interact with the game at all anymore. There is an LED which indicates if the controller is player 1-4, and it changed from indicating player 1 to indicating player 3 after I plugged it back in. I thought that maybe parsec was "taking over" player 1 controller on my host, so I unplugged and plugged back in my local xbox360 controller. He tried to use this setting to change his controller to act as player 2, but he's still only controlling player 1. My friend is new to the steam controller (he has no other controllers), so I instructed him how to add a key binding to change his controller to player 2.
We're trying to play a steam copy of "Lovers in a Dangerous spacetime".
This results in us controlling the same character. My friend/client's steam controller is showing up in "player 1" slot by default, even though I already have an xbox360 controller plugged in to my system (the host).
